there are so many out there who's lives have been ruined by the so-called truth.. i was brought up in the truth as an elders daughter, youngest of 5, a brother and sister had been disfellowshiped, other brother had left as a teenager and my other sister is still sitting on the fence aged 40 going on 15, if she'd made a decision instead of sitting on the fence i'm convinced she wouldn't be the alcoholic mess she is today!
Oo by the way, James_woods will happily send you lots of stuff, though have been completely in my own bubble and haven't travelled around England much at all - am trying to rectify that now though.

This is great ! jgnat, thanks for the tips, though ironically i hadn't been using the term 'the truth' for a long long time until i started writing on these forums, ooops. The rest was really great though, huge thanks.
The funny thing is some churches, especially the older ones are actually beautiful buildings to look at - on the outside. I can actually look at them from afar and appreciate all the hard work that went into building them, it's just when i go in them that the heebie jeebies start.
I only do weddings, funerals and recently a christening (which sent me loooooopy!). I'm so anti christening i felt such a hypocrit for being there but i didn't want to let me friend down by not going.

hello, i've been lurking around for a few months now, finally registered a few weeks ago, and figured it was finally time to post.
first of all, let me give you a little background so you know where i'm coming from.
i'm 24, married to my soulmate, and mother to a 2 year old boy.
Welcome sassafras, newbie here myself. I've already read so many great bits of advice and understanding from people who have left 'The Truth' as I have. We've all experienced the madness in different ways and it all boils down to the same thing from where I stand - the scars run very deep but once you start to open your mind to the possibility of 'what if they're wrong' and start wanting to listen to what other people outside the religion have to say you realise that you've been blinded all these years by people who, although obviously want what's best for you, have been sadly misguided themselves.
I used to hear brothers and sisters rattle on about how we're free compared to all the witnesses in the communist countries who aren't free to witness, but they don't understand the concept of freedom - we may have been freer than those mentioned, but we were still trapped in our own little WTS bubble and weren't allowed to explore. No wonder we leave the religion so lost and vulnerable.
It's a huge step to take and I can fully sympathise with your husband, but be careful, if you push too hard it may turn him the other way and the last thing you need is a visit from the elders drawing him further in.
Once he realises that there are thousands of people that have been in his situation here and ready to give him all the support he needs it might make him feel a bit more secure about telling the WTS where to go.

We had some about an hour ago, big flakes but now it's all gone.
We never get any decent snow down in Surrey!
i just answered a knock at my door, about 5 minutes ago, and it was two jws.
they must either be pretty new, i didn't recognise them anyway, or hadn't looked at their list of people not to call on.
they obviously didn't know that i am a da'd witness, and i didn't enlighten them immediately.
Following Dansk's comments, I had to really fight to be able to stay on at school to do extra GCSEs, how pathetic.
